This course provides a systematic analysis of Christology as a central conceptual and historical framework within Western intellectual tradition. Moving beyond personal devotion, the curriculum focuses on the development of the "Christ" figure as a complex intersection of historical biography, literary archetype, and philosophical inquiry. Students will examine the logical structures, linguistic debates, and political pressures that shaped the definition of this figure from late antiquity through the modern era.
The course investigates how different eras have constructed and reconstructed the nature of this figure to address changing social, ethical, and metaphysical questions.
